OLD DOMINION AQUATIC CLUB GETS COACH

{LEAD} Steve Bialorucki, who built a small Pensacola swim club into one of Florida's finest, will become the new swim coach for the Old Dominion Aquatic Club, the area's larges, most successful swim team.

ODAC has nearly 200 swimmers. When Bialorucki took over the East Side Swim Club of Pensacola in 1992, it had just four members. It now has more than 100 members.

{REST} ``We came a long way in a short time,'' he said.

ODAC, which is based out of the Old Dominion University pool but whose swimmers hail mostly from Virginia Beach, is without a coach. Head coach Bill Peak resigned a year ago and interim coach Mike Powell resigned recently.

``My priority here will be to provide stability,'' Bialorucki said. ``I think that's something that's been lacking. We want to create an environment of success and excellence for our swimmers here.''

Bialorucki, a Toledo, Ohio native, is a 1981 graduate of Kent State University and he captained the swim team there. He was head coach of the Jefferson City (Mo.) Swim Club and Cincinnati Pepsi Marlins swim team before moving to Pensacola in 1992.

``ODAC has a national reputation,'' Bialorucki said. ``That's why I applied for this position and why I'm coming here. This is a terrific place to coach.'' by CNB
