HOUSING FOR THE POOR
{LEAD}
What's all the fuss about? Of course we should build more local jails and
state prisons. After all, where else will we shelter the new poor, the
homeless, the mentally ill and retarded, the chronically ill and dying, the
alcohol and drug addicted, welfare mothers, jobless dads, high-school
dropouts, juvenile delinquents, ex-cons and other ``undesirables''? At $18,000
a year per head, it's a tax bargain. Just don't build these prisons in our
back yard. Vote Limburger in `96!
