NOT ACCOUNTABLE?

{LEAD} Your article concerning the removal of the Newport News police chief for overseeing a terribly planned mission was interesting. The city manager, Mr. Maroney, said that the investigation was inadequate in part because the investigators failed to communicate with the news media and the public. He then refused to release the results of the investigation on advice from a city attorney.

While we question the ethics of our elected officials, do those of appointees go unexamined?
