Mrs. Amelson, a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, was the widow of Theodore Amelson, and was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Leonard L. Berman. She was a member of Congregation Beth El in Norfolk; a member and past president of its Sisterhood; Hadassah; past president of the Hebrew Ladies Charity Society; founding trustee of Beth Sholom Home of Virginia; former member of the board of Jewish Family Services; and a member of many civic and charitable organizations.
{REST} Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis Berman Kaplan and her husband, Dr. Arthur S. Kaplan, of Norfolk, Arlene Berman Kesser and her husband, Dr. Howard L. Kesser, of Norfolk and Suzanne Berman Goldberg of Bethesda, Md.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A chapel service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg, Rabbi Lawrence A. Forman and Cantor Jacob Tessler. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will be at 213 Brackenridge Ave., Norfolk. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hebrew Ladies Charity Society.
