Mrs. Galvin was born in Norfolk and was the widow of John B. Galvin Jr. She was a graduate of Longwood College and had retired from the Norfolk School System at Coleman Place Elementary School. She was a member of Episcopal Church of the Epiphany.
{REST} Survivors include two sons, James M. Galvin of Williamsburg and John B. Galvin III of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Emily G. Hawkins of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Chantell Miller, Susan Galvin, John F. Galvin and Debbie Galvin; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Godwin and two brothers, William Edmond Godwin and Bentley C. Godwin.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Richard O. Bridgeford. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany.
