FORT EUSTIS HELICOPTER FORCED TO LAND

{LEAD} A Fort Eustis-based helicopter made a precautionary landing near Gloucester Point about 10 a.m. Thursday after experiencing engine problems, officials said.

The Army Apache helicopter landed safely about a mile north of the York River Bridge after the crew noticed a caution light on the instrument panel. A second helicopter with a mechanic aboard was sent to correct the problem.

{REST} Officials planned to have the helicopter flown to Fort Eustis later in the day.
