Mrs. Baker was born in Nansemond County. She was the daughter of the late Sarah Ann Byrd Britton and John Thomas Britton and was the widow of Charlie Clifton Baker. She was retired from the Nansemond County School System. Mrs. Baker was the oldest member of Holy Neck United Church of Christ; a charter member of the Women's Fellowship; and a member of the Second Sunday School Class.
{REST} Survivors include one son, Clifton B. Baker of Suffolk; one sister, Annie B. Griffin of Suffolk; two grandchildren, Jack O. Baker and Nancy B. Holland; and four great-grandchildren, Jodie Baker, Jason Baker, James Holland and David Holland.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. E. Cecil Smith. Burial will be in Liberty Spring Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday and other times at the residence. They suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Neck United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, Pineview Road, Suffolk, Va. 23437.
