MOTORIST DIES IN HOSPITAL

{LEAD} A 45-year-old Portsmouth man, injured in a traffic accident May 30, died Thursday at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

William P. Cole, of the 1900 block of London Blvd., had been hospitalized since the accident, which occurred in the 200 block of Mount Vernon Ave. at 4:11 p.m.

Cole's car struck a 1994 Chevrolet Lumina and then a 1989 Nissan truck head-on. Cole apparently had fallen asleep at the wheel, police said.
