{LEAD} Mary E. Ricks, 98, formerly of 6005 Arthur Ave., died June 2, 1994, in Rockville, Md.

Mrs. Ricks was a member of Grove Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Love & Charity Lodge, Job Lodge, Miriam Chapter (NU)107 O.E.S., Widowers of World War I, and was the widow of Atron Ricks.

{REST} Survivors include a daughter, Emma Dawley of El Cerrito, Calif.; two sons, William ``Bill'' Ricks of Virginia Beach and Lorrenzo Ricks of Rockville, Md.; a sister, Ella Ridgeway of Suffolk; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Grove Baptist Church by Dr. Melvin O. Marriner Sr. and Dr. Gilbert G. Campbell. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. The family will be at 6308 Babson Way, Virginia Beach. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
