A native of Gates County, she was a member of Eure Christian Church. She was custodian for 50 years. She was a craftsman in the Raleigh State Fair for over 26 years and the World's Fair for one. She was the widow of Ernest Smith.
{REST} Surviving one daughter, Aretta Smith Lassiter of Suffolk; one son, the Rev. Cecil Smith of Suffolk; four sisters, Leona Batts of Raleigh and Letha Felton, Daisy Taylor and Ruby Mullen, all of Eure; four brothers, Troy Greene and Truman Greene, both of Eure, Curtis Greene of Portsmouth and Roland Greene of Suffolk; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Wayne Gardner and the Rev. Carter Dey. Burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home, Gatesville, and all other times at the residence.
