JOHN W. JENNETTE

{LEAD} John Weston (Jack) Jennette, 89, of 1919 Rivershore Road, Elizabeth City, died at his residence Saturday afternoon. He was a resident of Elizabeth City and was an attorney. He began his practice of law in Elizabeth City in 1929. He was an alumnus of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, was a member of First United Methodist Church and taught the Men's Bible Class for 42 years.

He was the son of the late Warren Hellen and Sallie Closs Carter Jennette and the husband of Mildred Perry Jennette of the home.

{REST} Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mary Closs J. Gilmer of Charlotte, and one son, John W. Jennette, Jr. of Roxboro; two brothers, Walton Carter Jennette and Bertrand Culpepper Jennette, both of Elizabeth City; and two grandchildren, Katherine Sands Jennette and John Beauford Jennette, both of Roxboro.

Memorial services will be Monday at noon at First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Milton Mann and the Rev. Alex Maultsby. The family requests no flowers. Gifts may be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Pasquotank-Camden County Rescue Squad or a favorite charity. The family will receive friends at the home, 1919 Rivershore Road, this afternoon. Twiford Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
