AT LAST

{LEAD} We appreciate the presence of editorial-page editor John Barnes at The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star. We had been bombarded with socialist propaganda for so long in South Hampton Roads that we had decided not to renew our subscription.

We have changed our minds. Mr. Barnes is the reason for that change.

{REST} I hope Mr. Barnes can ignore the howling from the left. It has had such a monopoly on the local media for so long, it has no idea what ``balance'' even looks like. Damn the torpedoes . . . full speed ahead!
