CATHERINE B. WATERFIELD

{LEAD} Catherine Brown Waterfield, 61, of 1901 Rivershore Road, Elizabeth City, died Sunday morning in the Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Dunn, N.C. Mrs. Waterfield was the daughter of the late Roy J. and Thelma Tatum Brown and the wife of Herbert Lee Waterfield. She was a retired public school teacher and counselor for Elizabeth City State University and was a member of the Cann Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Waterfield is survived by three daughters, Nan R. Smith of Abingdon, Va., Susan B. Rowland of Elizabeth City and Dale G. Matthews of Robersonville, N.C.; one son, William D. Gardner II of Lewes, Del.; one sister, Louise B. Garrett of Louisburg, N.C.; one brother, Roy Brown of Smithfield, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

{REST} Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Church Street, by the Revs. Curtis Christian and Jeff Heath. A graveside service will be Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn, N.C. The family will be at their residence.
