Miss Eley, a native of Southampton County, was the daughter of the late John L. and Pauline Lankford Eley. She was a nurse at Raiford Hospital for seven years and a dental assistant for Dr. Darden Jones for 34 years and receptionist and bookkeeper for Dr. William N. Thornton III for eight years. She retired in September 1983. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, past president of Franklin B. & P.W. Club, charter member and past matron of Franklin Chapter 128, Order of the Eastern Star.
{REST} She is survived by two brothers, W.H. Eley of Franklin and Jasper Eley of Jackson, N.C.; four nieces, Jayne E. Savage, Jan E. Sloan, Debbie E. Turnstall and Polly E. Bratton; two nephews, W.H. Eley II and Wm. David Eley; six great-nephews; four great-nieces; and one great-great-nephew.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 1994, in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. W.H. Eley II and Dr. Roy DeBrand. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight.
