RAYMOND N. CARTWRIGHT

{LEAD} Raymond Nurney Cartwright, 85, died June 5, 1994, in his home.

He was the owner of Cartwright's Barber Shop in Norfolk, where he had been in business for 50 years; and was also a member of Victory Baptist Church; life member of the Knights of Pythias, where he was a Past Chancellor Commander of Lodge (NU)106; and a member of the Master Barber's Association and Journeyman's Barber Association.

{REST} He was born in Belvidere, N.C., the son of the late Josiah P. and Delia Perry Cartwright, and is survived by his wife, Edna Earl Snowden Cartwright; four daughters, Barbara Ann Hopkins, Edna Ray Smith and Leanna Gay Davis, all of Virginia Beach, and Candace Day Wright of Jarvisburg, N.C.; two sons, Raymond Herbert Cartwright of Norfolk, and William Vernon Hall of Chesapeake; one sister, Delia M. Perry of Chesapeake; one brother, Herbert Nathan Cartwright of Corapeake, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Twiford Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, Church Street , Elizabeth City, N.C., with the Rev. Reginald Parker presiding. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
