RUTH M. ACORD

{LEAD} Ruth Modlin Acord, 78, of the 3700 block of Turnpike Road, died June 6, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mrs. Acord was a native of Southampton County, Va. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God, Chesapeake.

{REST} Survivors include a daughter, Janice Kendall of Lynchburg; a son, Max B. Acord Jr. of Norfolk; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bethel Assembly of God by the Rev. Stanley Turnbull. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Mount Horeb Church Cemetery, Franklin. The family will receive friends in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
