Mr. Kannan was born in Goldsboro, N.C., and was the son of the late Charles and Nora Rabil Kannan. He was the retired owner of Franklin Seafood Company and was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church where he was a former parish council member. He was a past president of the Franklin Kiwanis Club and a member of the Cypress Cove Country Club.
{REST} Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Rabil Kannan; two daughters, Madeline K. Marks and Theresa Louise Kannan, both of Franklin; four sons, Charles Louis Kannan of Nashville, N.C., Robert Francis (Beaver) Kannan and William Joseph Kannan, both of Franklin and James Allen Kannan of Germantown, Md.; two sisters, Louise K. Varadian of Beacon, N.Y. and Martha K. Painter of Sarasota, Fla. and Clara Beau Jones of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two brothers, James B. Kannan of Sarasota, Fla. and Frank Kannan of Morehead City, N.C.; six grandchildren, Matthew Kannan, Mariam Ann Kannan, Brock Kannan, Stephen Kannan, James Kannan and Marguerite Mary (Molly) Marks.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 1994, in St. Jude's Catholic Church with Father Carl DeSouza officiating. The burial will be at Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to either the Building Fund of St. Jude's Catholic Church or the Texie Camp Marks Children Center.
