TEEN HIT BY CAR

{LEAD} A teenager who motorists said was running into traffic was hit by a car Tuesday and critically injured, police spokesman G.A. Brown said.

Brown said Corey Mutter, 16, of the 4200 block of Morgate Lane, was one of four juveniles standing in the median of the Western Freeway near the Cedar Lane underpass when the accident happened about 6:40 p.m.

{REST} Brown said Mutter ran into traffic and was struck by a car driven by 25-year-old Robert J. Labason of East Ocean View Avenue in Norfolk. The teen was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Witnesses said the teens had been running across the freeway earlier. No charges are expected against Labason, Brown said.
