REORGANIZING EDUCATION

{LEAD} I am writing to express my appreciation for the editorial about the reorganization of the State Department of Education (``Hope in a leaner agency,'' April 27).

As your editorial pointed out, I feel very strongly that the Department of Education must direct its efforts toward helping school divisions and supporting them as they work to improve public education.
