JAMES R. RUTLEDGE

{LEAD} James R. Rutledge, 62, of the 1700 block of Woodcliff Court, died June 7, 1994, in Portsmouth Naval Hospital.

He was a native of Phenix City, Ala., and was a member of Virginia Beach Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Korea and Vietnam and had retired from civil service after 20 years.

{REST} He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Rutledge; three loving daughters, Cheryl Staat, and Cynthia Arsuaga, both of Virginia Beach, and Rebecca Zwinkel of Cleveland, Tenn.; one devoted son, James J.R. Rutledge Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; his mother, Nannie Mae McKay of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; 10 wonderful grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall, Kempsville Chapel, by Dr. A.C. Smith. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
