MARTHA O. HAMPTON

{LEAD} Martha Osborne Hampton, 83, died June 7, 1994, in an Elizabeth City hospital.

She was a native of Brevard, N.C., was a homemaker and a member of the Ocracoke United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of Charles Spurgeon and Ellen Bishop Osborne.

{REST} She is survived by her husband, Thomas Dancy Hampton; two daughters, Martha Ann Hampton of Brevard, N.C., and Julia Elizabeth McKeldin of Baltimore, Md.; three sons, Charles Thomas Hampton of Satellite Beach, Fla., James William Hampton of Pisgah Forest, N.C., and Alfred Dancy Hampton of Burlington, Ontario, Canada; one sister, Ruth Osborne Sams of Brevard, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Ocracoke United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Johnson. Burial will follow in the Community Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church today at 5 p.m. The family will receive friends today at the church from 7 to 9 p.m. Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Manteo, is handling the arrangements.
