HENRY H. SEXTON JR.

{LEAD} Minister Henry H. ``Fatty Pop'' Sexton Jr., 53, of the 2300 block of Valentine Ave., died June 4, 1994, in Montefiore Medical Center.

He was a native of Portsmouth, Va., and worked for two years as an organist and minister of music for Solomon Temple Baptist Church, where he was a member. He also taught Sunday school there. He was a member of the Long Island University Alumni Association, and had graduated from I.C. Norcom High School in 1958.

{REST} He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Sexton Balmer of Portsmouth, Va.; two sisters, Lethia Elaine Ward and Angela L. Mullen, both of Portsmouth; six brothers, Stanley Barmer and Herman Sexton, both of Portsmouth, William Ross Wright of Chesapeake, Alvester Barmer and Josh Barmer, both of Maryland, and James Edward Fields of Eatown, N.J.; his stepmother, Thelma Sexton of Portsmouth; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in New Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. D. Eugene Rodgers Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Friday. The family will be at the home of his sister, 3102 Knox Street, Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
