Antonio Wiggins was struck in the head by one of several bullets fired into his Lexington Drive home in Lincoln Park about 5:30 p.m. He was taken to the Trauma Center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and later transferred to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters.
{REST} ``He is expected to recover,'' said Detective Jimmy Ennis, a police spokesman, ``but we don't know what may happen with long-term damage.''
Police issued warrants late Wednesday charging two men in connection with the shooting. Both were at large and considered armed and dangerous.
Police said the shooting stemmed from an earlier argument between the boy's father and one of the suspects at a Quick Shop store in the 2800 block of Columbus Ave.
``The victim's father retreated to his home,'' Ennis said. About five or 10 minutes later, the two men came to the home and began shooting at the front door and window.
The pair then fled.
Police questioned the victim's father and later secured warrants against Demetrius L. Pettaway, 19, and Kevin Alfonzo Sherrod, 21. Both men are charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, malicious wounding, attempted murder and two counts each of using a firearm while committing a felony.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call Crime Line at 488-7777.
