COREY L. MUTTER

{LEAD} Corey Lee Mutter, 16, of the 4200 block of Morgate Lane, a ninth-grade student at Churchland High School, died Wednesday in a Norfolk hospital.

He was born in Portsmouth and was a former member of Craddock Little League.

{REST} Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Cathleen and Dennis Bell of Portsmouth; his father and stepmother, Stephen and Susan Mutter of Suffolk; five sisters, Marcie Mutter Held of Chesapeake, Brandi Mutter, Ashley Bell and Denise Bell, all of Portsmouth, and Dawn Bell of Norfolk; four brothers, Bradford Mutter of Chesapeake, Bradley Chaffee of Charlottesville and Robert Harrell and Dennis Bell Jr., both of Portsmouth; maternal grandmother, Mary Evans Jefferson of Portsmouth; paternal grandparents, George and Cookie Mutter of Portsmouth; and stepgrandmother, Helena T. Greene of Suffolk.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alexander Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. John Burr and the Rev. George H. Close, Jr. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel and at 4235 Morgate Lane, Portsmouth, and 1900 Kings Highway, Suffolk, at all other times. Corey's father is a member of the Chesapeake Fire Dept. and his mother is employed at Hagwood's Cleaners.
