CHESAPEAKE TEACHER CHARGED IN STUDENT'S RAPE

{LEAD} A high school coach has been charged with raping a student, marking the 10th time in three years - and the second time in a week - that a city school teacher or administrator has been accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile.

In the latest case, Keith Lynwood McCray, 29, the girls track coach at Deep Creek High School, was arrested about 3:20 p.m. Thursday at police headquarters after being questioned by detectives.

{REST} McCray is charged with rape, forcible rape and two counts of forcible sexual battery against a girl who was a student at the school at the time of the alleged assaults. Police said all the attacks occurred off campus. The rape charge dates to an incident in 1992. The other two charges stem from incidents since then, police said.

McCray was free on bond Thursday night. He was suspended without pay after his arrest.

Last week, police arrested Chesapeake teacher Lawrence J. Parks, 47, and charged him with raping his stepdaughter twice over five years, starting when the girl was 12. She is now 25.
