She was a native of Nansemond County, Va., and was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church and attended the Ruth Bible Class. She had retired as a cashier from Ballard and Smith.
{REST} She is survived by her husband, Clarence Thomas Matthews and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Great Fork Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas Edwards. Burial will be in Whaleyville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Hill Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to Great Fork Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 190 Great Fork Road, Suffolk, Va. 23438.
