NEW CENTER'S OPENING DELAYED\

{LEAD} Construction delays that will postpone the opening of the Tidewater Community College Visual Arts Center until year's end has not slowed the beginning of a cooperative program between the school and the Portsmouth Museums.

The opening this weekend of ``Whatever Comes Next,'' an exhibit of work by seven members of the faculty of the Tidewater Community College Visual Arts Center, marks the beginning of a healthy relationship.

{REST} During the exhibition in the 1846 Courthouse gallery until July 31, four lectures and workshops by faculty members will be presented at the Community Arts Center.

The frustrating delay in the opening of the school is somewhat ameliorated by this auspicious beginning of mutually beneficial programs.
