Hedgepeth, vice president at Crestar Bank in Franklin, said he believes in telling people about the bank. He's the first to get on the soapbox when it comes to pushing the bank's name in his community.
{REST} Hedgepeth came to Crestar in February as manager of the Franklin office. Then he moved into the vice president's chair, where he oversees the entire office while trying to bring in new business.
The aspect he enjoys most is lending money.
``A lot of good comes out of it,'' Hedgepeth said. ``It's good for the community because you're able to see people benefit and progress.''
Hedgepeth, 35, is a banker with a heart and a true believer in community volunteering.
He and his wife, Terri, coach youth sports at the James L. Camp Jr. YMCA in Franklin. Hedgepeth serves on the YMCA's board of directors and was the organization's president from 1990 to 1993.
In addition, he is treasurer of the local chapter of the American Heart Association and finance chairman for Cypress Cove Country Club.
``People have to volunteer in small communities,'' Hedgepeth said. ``They just have to.''

Occupation: Vice president and branch manager of Crestar Bank in Franklin.
Marital status: Married to Terri for nine years.
Children: Michael, 7, and Katie, 4.
Favorite movies: I enjoy old movies.
Favorite magazine: Sports Illustrated.
A book you wish everyone would read, why? I really don't read many books.
Favorite night out on the town: A family night out for burgers, pizzas or subs.
Favorite bar or restaurant: Fred's, Three Guys and Phillips. But it depends on what you are going out for and with whom.
Favorite food and drink: Steak and beer.
Few people know . . . that I am actually shy.
What's the best thing about yourself? I could not tell you because I really don't know.
Worst habit: I hate sitting still. I don't relax well.
First thing in the morning: A cup of coffee and I read the paper.
Pets: My wife and kids have a cat named Milo. I don't claim him.
Hobbies: Golf and coaching kids.
Ideal vacation: Anywhere away, but only for a few days. I hate going away for a very long time. I can take the beach for a few days.
Pet peeve: Two things - hearing people complain about a community that offers so much. And so few people volunteer. If we gave more of our time, think what we could do.
First job: Cutting grass.
Worst job: Cleaning the locker rooms at the YMCA.
What achievements are you most proud of? That so far I have provided a comfortable life for my family.
What would you like on your epitaph? I hope I won't need one.
