CIVIL WAR OUTFIT STILL IN EXISTENCE

{LEAD} They formed in Jerusalem, later becoming part of Company D, 3rd Virginia Regiment - part of Kemper's Brigade, Pickett's Division, Longstreet's Corps.

Yes, it was the Civil War, and the list of battles in which the young men participated was quite impressive.

{REST} They were part of the stand at Yorktown and fought in battles in the Williamsburg area and around Richmond.

At Sharpsburg, they formed part of a group that halted the federal troops.

They fought at Second Manassas, Fredericksburg, later rejoining the main army for the march to Gettysburg.

They overran a group from Pennsylvania. Later they fought the 42nd New York Volunteers, fighting until most of their officers and half their men were down.

They did win some ground but were unable to hold it.

In March 1865, they were part of Pickett's Division.
