The Civil War battle group, formed originally in Jerusalem in Southampton County, was the Southampton Greys - an appropriate name considering their home area and uniform color.

{REST} Several of the men in the group that re-formed in 1965 had great-grandfathers who had signed up more than a century earlier.

The 20th century group was in the top 10 percent in national skirmishes for two years.

At national meets the Greys made many friends, including the descendants of their ancestral enemies - the 42nd New York Volunteers.
