ROBERT S. CLONTZ

{LEAD} Robert Shirley Clontz, 52, a resident of Smithfield for 42 years, died Sunday, June 12, 1994. He was born December 21, 1941, in Wilmington, N.C.

Mr. Clontz was a wildlife artist and avid sportsman. He was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church, Ducks Unlimited, the Atlantic Coast Conservation Association and the Smithfield Hunt Club.

{REST} Mr. Clontz is survived by his wife, Carol Price Clontz, and two sons, Robert Baysden Clontz and John Bradley Clontz. He is also survived by his father, Robert Luther Clontz and stepmother, Pearl L. Clontz, all of Smithfield; a sister, Sylvia Clontz Staicer of Virginia Beach; two stepsisters, Suzanne Luter Anderson of Wrightsville Beach, N.C., and Dorothy Luther Hobson of Charlotte, N.C.; and a stepbrother, Joseph W. Luter III of Smithfield.

A memorial service will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, on Tuesday, June 14, at 8 p.m. with Dr. Donald R. Rhoton and the Rev. John E. Lightsey officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. prior to the memorial service.

Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Mrs. J.L. Rose, Route 7, Box 468, Walters, Va. 23481.
