CHRISTOPHER E. WALBURGH

{LEAD} Christopher E. Walburgh, 28, of the 1100 block of Graydon Ave., died June 10, 1994, while on a climbing expedition in Denali National Park, Alaska.

Chris was a graduate of Norfolk Academy, Class of 1984, and graduated from Washington & Lee University, class of 1988. After completing college, he joined the staff of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) in Lander, Wyoming, as a mountaineering instructor. He had worked as a instructor for NOLS in Washington, Wyoming and Arizona. He and his fiancee, Ms. Patricia Saurman were both fatally injured, while preparing for a NOLS expedition to the Himalayan Mountains in 1995.

{REST} Survivors include his mother, Sandra DePriest Walburgh; his father, Dr. C. Eric Walburgh; a brother, Evan Walburgh of Norfolk; and his maternal grandparents, Clyde & Marian DePriest of North Attleboro, Mass.

Memorial donations may be made to the National Outdoor Leadership School, Memorial Scholarship Fund, 288 Main Street, Lander, Wyoming 82520.

The cremains of both Chris and Patricia will be scattered over Mount Denali.

A memorial service will be held at Mount Lemon, Tucson, Ariz., in January.

H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
