Mr. Paternite was born in Fairview, N.J. and was a retired U.S. Navy SH-1 with 22 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea and was a member of Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel, Izaak Walton League, Fleet Reserve Association Branch (NU)99 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
{REST} Survivors include his wife, Genevieve R. Paternite; one daughter, Angela S. Garrett and her husband, John Roger Garrett of Chesapeake; four sons and their wives, HMCM Joseph P. and Carol W. Paternite of Chesapeake, DT. USN (Ret.) Paul V. and Cheryl H. Paternite of Norfolk, Daniel F. Paternite of Virginia Beach and Anthony T. Sr. and Vanda Paternite of Virginia Beach; one sister, Lucy Caminiti of Tampa, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church by Father Pascal Kneip, O.S.B. and Father Richard Ulam. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A Fleet Reserve service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, followed by a wake service, and the family will remain until 10 p.m.
