ELTON R. WEST

{LEAD} Elton Russell West, 86, of Regent Drive, died June 12, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mr. West was born in Petersburg, Va. He was the widower of Isa Linda Byrd West and was a member of Azalea Garden Church of God. He was a former Sunday School teacher for the Men's Bible Class. He was a member of Senior Citizens Group at the Azalea Gardens.

{REST} Survivors include two daughters, Shirley M. Spencer and Doris V. Carr, both of Chesapeake; two sons, Robert E. West of Portsmouth and Walter D. West of Kannapolis, N.C.; a sister, Helen Earnest of Norfolk; a stepbrother, Ray Hardy of California; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Aubrey Maye, the Rev. Paul Eure and the Rev. Tom Grinder. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
