David Chambers was found guilty of second-degree murder, use of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon. An abduction charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement.
{REST} Chambers was sentenced to 13 years in prison. He faced a maximum sentence of 47 years.
Chambers was charged with the May 18, 1992, murder of William T. Pollard Jr., 24, in the 9500 block of 24th Bay St. in East Ocean View. Pollard was shot once in the neck with a handgun.
Police believe the slaying resulted from an argument between Pollard and Chambers during a drug deal. Several people were present, but more people heard the shooting than saw it. One witness has been murdered since the arrest, two are in jail and a fourth is at large.
Chambers fled the area soon after the shooting. He was arrested later in New York.
