WOMAN FOUND DEAD

{LEAD} Detectives are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found Tuesday in the backyard of a house on Prentis Avenue near Elm Avenue.

Police spokesman Jimmy Ennis said the woman apparently had been lying in the back yard of the vacant home at 1313 Prentis Ave. for a several days.

{REST} A citizen reported the body to police about 4:30 p.m. Ennis said neither the cause of death nor the victim's name has been determined. The body will be sent to the medical examiner's office in Norfolk.
