Mrs. Collins was born in Gates, N.C., and was the widow of Redell J. Collins Sr. She was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Portsmouth, the Missionary Society and other church clubs. She was also a member of The Independent Order of Saint Luke, Wisher Council (NU)3.
{REST} Survivors include two daughters, Anna L. Collins and Eloise Collins-Hall, both of Portsmouth; three sons, Redell J. Collins Jr. and Charles H. Collins, both of Portsmouth, and Phillip A. Collins of Suffolk; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Evelyn D. Collins of Portsmouth and Lennis M. Collins of Suffolk.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Mount Carmel Baptist Church by the Rev. E.T. Knight. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in Corprew Funeral Home. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
