AN ABLE TEACHER

{LEAD} I really enjoyed David Poole's Inside Virginia column concerning Attorney General Jim Gilmore's amateurish handling of the federal-retiree issue and the ``schooling'' he received by House Majority Leader Dick Cranwell.

Mr. Gilmore may be an experienced prosecutor, but he is a babe in the woods at the General Assembly - and it shows.

Mr. Cranwell is as smart as they come in our General Assembly. Mr. Gilmore is no match for one of the most skillful politicians our commonwealth has produced in many years.
