Rev. Copeland was born Feb. 5, 1938, in Norfolk, Va., the son of Herbert E. and Helen E. (Cofield) Copeland. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He served as pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Canton, Mich., and was a member of Greater Detroit Baptist Association, Baptist State Convention of Michigan and Belleville Loyal Order of Moose Lodge (NU)934.
{REST} Survivors include his wife, Wanda F. (Nichols) Copeland; three sons, Stephen (Cyndi) Copeland of San Antonio, Texas, John (Erika) Copeland of Chelsea, Mich., and Matthew Copeland of Belleville, Mich.; one granddaughter, Jene'; his mother, Helen Jenkins of Chesapeake, Va.; and one brother, Howard Copeland (member, Va. House of Delegates) of Norfolk. Rev. Copeland was preceded in death by his father, Herbert E. Copeland.
In-state, David C. Brown Funeral Home, 460 E. Huron River Drive, Belleville, Mich., is handling arrangements, where friends may call today from noon to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, with the Rev. James Jones officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Belleville, Mich. Memorial contributions to Bethlehem Baptist Church would be appreciated.
