SFC Stukes was born in Chesapeake and served in the Army 21 years. He was a member of Center of Faith COGIC in Kent, Wash., audio engineer, minister of music, member of the Trustee Board, Pastor's Aide, Hospitality member and member of the Usher Board. He was a maintenance supervisor and recipient of two Army Commendation Medals, five Good Conduct Medals, two NCO Medals, Professional Development Ribbons; three Overseas Ribbons, National Defense Medals and the Army Service Ribbon.
{REST} Survivors include his wife, Brenda G. Stukes; two daughters, Leslie A. Stukes and Renita L. Stukes; and one son, Jeffrey A. Stukes, all of Tacoma; his father, Charlie Jones of Chesapeake; five sisters, Iva Cuffee, Annie Johnson of Portsmouth, Elaine Baynard, Cynthia Stukes of Chesapeake and Pauline Lathan of Norfolk; five brothers, Charles Stukes, David Stukes, Col. William Jones, Curtis Jones of Chesapeake and Daniel Jones of Richmond, Va.; and grandmother, Martha Jones of Chesapeake. He is also survived by in-laws, including Shirley G. Kidd of Portsmouth, Jack and Mary Kidd of Chesapeake; brothers-in-law, Willie Cuffee, James Johnson, Thomas Lathan, Jack E. Keith and Darren J. Kidd; sisters-in-law, Elva Stukes, Debbie Stukes, Deana, Josephine and Marie Jones, Joyce Kidd Stukes, Sharon and Renee Kidd.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Lee's Chapel AME Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Horace B. Cross and Charles L. Harvin. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, with military honors. Viewing will be from noon to 7 p.m. today. The body will be placed in church at noon Saturday. Chatman Funeral Home, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
