`KEEP IT UP!'

{LEAD} Since the new editor arrived, I spend a lot more time reading the paper because now I read the entire editorial and op-ed pages. It's so nice to be able to read one of the few conservative newspapers in the country. Thanks for giving us Pat Buchanan, Robert Novak, Thomas Sowell (he's great), Tony Snow, etc. Keep it up!

\ \ I just want to voice my support of your paper in hiring a conservative editor. I believe that the majority of society is conservative. The problem is, liberals have bigger mouths; they've managed to convince people that there are more of them than there really are.

\ \ It is strange that you take such a strong stand against tax-and-spend policies that you ascribe to the Democrats, yet urge the City Council of Virginia Beach to support sand for Sandbridge.

Talk about pork! Moving sand would involve the Corps of Engineers, paid for with federal tax dollars. And the rebate by the state to Virginia Beach on the land deal would involve the tax dollars of all Virginians.

Maybe you would favor us with an editorial addressing this dichotomy.
