Mrs. Brooks was born in Boykins, Va. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Kempsville Women's Club, Avalon Hills Civic League, Avalon Hills Homemakers Club and Greenbrier Stable Club.
{REST} Survivors include her husband, George R.C. Brooks, Sr.; a daughter, Patricia P. Draper of Boykins, Va.; a son, Joseph W. Person of Richmond; a sister, Inez S. Lassiter, and a brother, J. David Sykes, both of Boykins, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two stepsons, George R.C. Brooks, Jr. of Outer Banks, N.C., and Colton L. Brooks of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church by the Rev. Hugh C. White III. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, Va. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
