POET TO APPEAR TONIGHT AT GENERIC THEATER

{LEAD} Chicago poet Angela Jackson uses the blues in her work. So you could say she'll be talking the blues at 7:30 p.m. today at the Generic Theater.

Jackson will recite from her book of poetry, ``Dark Legs and Silk Kisses: The Beatitudes of the Spinners,'' published in 1993 by Northwestern University Press's Triquarterly Books.

{REST} Gwendolyn Brooks, Illinois' poet laureate, wrote that ``hopefully this large collection will earn for Angela Jackson the extensive enthusiasm she has long deserved.''

The reading benefits the Generic Theater and the Stop Racism Now Task Force Committee of the National Organization for Women, Tidewater chapter.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Jackson will sign copies of her book at the Self-Improvement Educational Center, 600 W. 35th St. Her book will be available for purchase for $10.95.
