HUG VETERANS, FAMILIES TO SHOW APPRECIATION

{LEAD} On behalf of the Southampton County Historical Society and its Southampton Agriculture and Forestry Museum Steering Committee, I want to commend Staff Writer Frank Roberts for his superb coverage of our events, especially that of our D-Day Commemorative Exhibit that will run through August at the museum.

We planned this exhibit to honor the local men and women, both living and dead, who served so honorably in World War II.

{REST} This country owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to the men and women who served their country during World War II, for they saved the world from fascist domination, protecting our blessings of liberty and freedom, ``not for glory or for honor, nor for lasting tribute on the printed page, but simply because it had to be done. No one else was available to do it.'' (Quoted from William Brown, 82nd Airborne Division Association.)

If you know someone who served in WWII or the families of ones who gave their lives for our country, give them a hug and say, ``Thank you.'' No other group has exceeded their achievements. Pray no one will ever again have to try.
