WILLIAM S. CUTHRIELL

{LEAD} William Shelby Cuthriell, 77, of the 5100 block of Bridges Avenue, died June 18, 1994 in his home.

Mr. Cuthriell, a native of Hopewell, Va., was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as head of the Inspection Division of the Superintendent of Shipbuilding, Fifth Naval District, after 33 years of service. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and had formerly served as Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 234, and as a baseball coach for the Churchland Little League. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

{REST} Survivors include his wife, Mary Locke Cuthriell; two sons, William T. ``Ted'' Cuthriell of Portsmouth; Michael L. Cuthriell of Suffolk; a brother, Edward S. Cuthriell of Leesburg, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, by the Rev. Donald H. Seely. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. Friends may join the family today from 4 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.
