Mr. Russell was born to the late Roland E. Russell Sr., & Grace P. Russell in Princess Anne County, now Virginia Beach, and was retired from the Naval Supply Center, Norfolk, Virginia after 34 years of service. He was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church, Bute Street, Norfolk and choir. He was a member of Improved Lodge (NU)192, Free and Accepted Masons, INC., Alpha & Omega Consistory (NU)9, and Arabia Temple (NU)12. He was Former District Deputy of the second Masonic District and Former President of New Light Civic League in Virginia Beach.
{REST} Survivors include his wife, Frances M. Russell of Virginia Beach, five daughters, Cheryl R. Lee of Richmond, Virginia, Beverly R. Bennett of Portsmouth, Virginia, Jo Ann McKinsey, Yolanda D. McGhee and Frances R. Evans of Virginia Beach. three sisters, Edith R. Wilder, Hortense R. Spence of Virginia Beach and Grace P. Ponton of Glen Allen, Virginia: four brothers, Milton E. Russell, Leonard A. Russell and Roland E. Russell, Jr. of Virginia Beach, and Horace M. Russell of Chesapeake. 6 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Monday, in St. John A.M.E. Church, Bute Street, Norfolk, Virginia, by the Rev. I.W. Knight. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake, Va., handled arrangements.
