PHILLIP R. BRICKHOUSE SR.

{LEAD} Phillip Ray ``Paw-Paw'' Brickhouse Sr. 60 of the 2400 block of Mt. Pleasant Rd. died June 18, 1994 at his home. Mr. Brickhouse was born in Columbia, N.C. but had resided in Chesapeake over 40 years.

Mr. Brickhouse was employed with the Ford Motor Company for 41 years as a quality control inspector.

{REST} He attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a member of the Great Bridge Masonic Lodge No. 257 A.F. & A.M. and UAW Local 919. Mr. Brickhouse was a retired volunteer fireman for the city of Chesapeake with 35 years' service. He was an honorary member of the Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Dept.

He was the son of the late Theador & Clara White Brickhouse.

Survivors include his wife, Jean S. Brickhouse; two daughters Bonnie Grimstead, of Chesapeake; Rebecca Gibson, of Virginia Beach; one son Phillip Ray Brickhouse, Jr., of Chesapeake; four brothers, Thomas Brickhouse, Calvin Brickhouse, both of Chesapeake; William Brickhouse, of South Mills, N.C.; Malcolm Brickhouse, of Kensington, Md.; seven grandchildren, Trey Ward, Virginia Beach; Shane Grimstead, of Chesapeake; Jason Brickhouse, of Chesapeake; Corey Grimstead, of Chesapeake; Johnny Brickhouse, of Chesapeake; Samantha R. Gibson, of Virginia Beach; Amanda Brickhouse, of Chesapeake; two step-grandchildren, Roger Gibson and Dana Testone, both of Jacksonville, Florida.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Robert Sowder and Rev. James Wetherington. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family at Twiford Colonial Chapel Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. and other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc. Masonic rites will be accorded at the grave.
