ARCHITECTURE

{REST} Bruce A. Maser was named an associate with Hanbury Evans Newill Vlattas & Co. in Norfolk. Maser has been with the firm since 1984, most recently as a project architect.

BANKING

Central Fidelity Bank in Norfolk appointed Denny P. Cobb a senior vice president, and Laura Stock-ham Arcand and L. Edward Putney Jr. vice presidents.

Cobb is manager of the bank's real estate finance division. Stockham and Putney are senior account managers in the real estate finance division.

HEALTH CARE

Alfred W. Craft Jr. was elected chairman of the board of directors with Virginia Beach General Hospital. Craft is a retired executive officer with the former Sovran Bank in Virginia Beach.

MANUFACTURING

George E. Hamilton Jr., has retired after 24 years as president and chief operating officer of Smithfield Packing Co. Hamilton, 78, will continue as a director of the company's parent, Smithfield Foods Inc., and as a paid consultant to Smithfield Packing, the company's largest operating unit.

Robert W. Manly, 41, was named to replace Hamilton. He has been executive vice president of Smithfield Foods since 1986. Manly also is a director of Smithfield Foods.

RETAIL

Marion O. Ashburn was named vice president for the Village Foods distribution center with Farm Fresh Inc. in Norfolk. Ash-burn had been perishable-warehouse manager with Super Fresh of Virginia in Richmond.

REAL ESTATE

The Breeden Cos. in Virginia Beach promoted Sandra L. Jones from administrator of the apartment division to vice president of apartment operations. Jones has been with the real estate company since 1977.

Breeden also promoted Charles B. Flowe from administrator of its property management division to director of commercial lease administration. Also, Jerry L. Fuller was appointed director of maintenance for the property management division. Fuller had been a commercial pilot.
