JOSEPHINE N. WELFARE

{LEAD} Josephine N. Welfare, 89, of the 1300 block of Stockley Gardens, a retired clerk of Comptomptry for the Virginian Railway, Norfolk and Western, and the Federal Government, died June 18, 1994, at home.

Mrs. Welfare was a native of Norfolk. She was the widow of Atwood Welfare. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk.

{REST} Survivors include two sisters, Theresa Niegro and Rose M. Walton, both of Norfolk, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Father John J. Dorgan and Father Thomas Quinlan. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
