She was a native of Boissevain, Va., and a widow of Clyde Lyle Maxson. She had worked as a cashier for Edwards Grocery and was a member of First Friends Church and of the Christian Missionary Society.
{REST} She is survived by one daughter, Arlene M. Phillips of Virginia Beach; one son, Ronald D. Maxson of Chesapeake; one sister, Allie Howard of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Melissa A. Meyers of Chesapeake, J. Michael Phillips of California, Angel M. Coyle of Chesapeake, Ronald M. Maxson of Chesapeake, and Laura L. and Holly G. Maxson, both of Chesapeake; and one great-granddaughter, Nicole L. Maxson of Chesapeake.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in First Friends Church by the Rev. Frank Carter. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd., today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
